Opis
This is a real forest walk, along winding paths and past lakes. It is undulating terrain and Granberget is steep. Djursjön is good for bathing.
Along the way you will find several old chalets or huts – part of farms that were used for grazing animals and were often only lived in during the summer months. Granberget’s chalets offers a fantastic cultural area with a magnificent view over the surroundings. One of the cottages, Kronstugan, offers overnight stays. At Ljusbodarna there is also a cottage that provides accommodation. For more information, see romboleden.se.
Read more about the stage
The hike begins through the Ljusbodarna's chalets, from the lower to the upper and more open part of this large old farmstead. From Blåbergsbacken, the path continues towards the elevated farmstead Skinnaråsen. Along the trail, you pass a vast and mostly sank mire, Flaten. It is possible to walk around the mire and up to Skinnaråsen. If you want to extend the tour, you can go to the top of the farmstead - there are beautiful views of the neid. You get an even better view from the observation tower at the top of Skinnaråsberget, but then it will be a longer detour.
From Skinnaråsen, it leads along the path towards Djursjön, where you follow the beach for just over a kilometer. The path then leads uphill towards Balkbodarna. The surface varies between paths and gravel roads on your hike towards Granberget's chalet. Along the way, you pass the Vägskälets nature reserve and lake Yxen, where you can take a bath. The last stretch to Granberg is steep uphill.
If you would rather go on a gravel road the whole way, there is a on option on this stage, but then you have to read the map and choose the route yourself.
Walk in the footsteps of the pilgrims
Romboleden (Rombo Way) is a pilgrimage route that people began using in the 11th century. The Romboleden is Sweden’s longest pilgrimage route at 900 kilometres long. It starts in Köping in Västmanland and finishes in Trondheim on the Norwegian Atlantic coast. If you walk the entire trail, you will experience a beautiful and varied landscape. You will walk on old chalet paths, over mountains with magnificent vistas and along narrow country gravel roads. You will find easy one-day walks with cafés along the way, and long treks that take several days. The route often passes through small villages.
Would you like to walk with a Pilgrim’s Passport and collect stamps from each stage? The medieval Pilgrim’s Passport allowed a pilgrim to walk in the whole of Europe without being stopped by rules or boundaries. These days it is just a nice memento. The Pilgrim’s Passport can be collected at several stage starting points and from the web page of Rombo Way.
