The naval shipyard was moved from Vämö to the south side of the island of Trossö in 1684. Fortifications and buildings were built here, with additional structures on Lindholmen, Söderstjärna and Stumholmen.
ATTENTION! The Old Naval Shipyard is located in a military area, and therefore cannot be visited due to the current world situation.
Shipbuilding still takes place here, with operations in the western shipyard area and the Naval base on the eastern side.
The historic shipyard is part of the Naval Port of Karlskrona, inscribed on UNESCO’s list of unmissable World Heritage Sites in 1998.
