Description

Welcome to Långören in the Torhamn archipelago, the “pilots’ island” since the early eighteenth century.

The island is beside the sea lane that runs from the south of Kalmarsund to the naval port of Karlskrona. Built in about 1710, the pilot station was closed in 1960 but the village has retained its character of a pilot and fishing village. The open landscape outside the village, Skäret, reflects generations of tilling the soil.

The pilots’ tower provides amazing views over the archipelago.

The apartment on the top floor is available to rent. There is a bedroom with five beds and a kitchen with one bed. An attic offers another two beds. There is also a simpler fishing cabin. This has one room with two beds plus access to a kitchen and outside toilet.

The ground floor of the pilot’s house has one large room, one small room and a kitchen available to rent to companies and agencies for one-day meetings.

In the summer Långören springs into life with a summer café and excellent connections to Torhamn and Karlskrona via the archipelago ferries that visit several times a day. See the Blekingetrafiken website for more information. In spring and autumn, the island is only reached from Yttre Park, the jetty west of Torhamn, and from Karlskrona.

Varying standard of accommodation, room for meetings – 2 rooms, 8 beds in total – Swedish and English – Open May to September, more information and bookings on the website.
