Description

The mill was completed in 1901, built by a passionate man of many talents Anton Månsson. Built on a sturdy plinth of granite, the body of the mill was made from ships’ masts that the Naval Shipyard had discarded because they were too short. The mill was in operation until 1964. Operation was motorised in the 1930s, replacing the wind-powered sails. It then fell into decline for 20 years. Sturkö Mill and the hill it stands on are now owned by a community group, Sturkö Samhällsförening.
