The yew trees on Yttre Stekön were protected in 1915. The landscape consists of bare rock and besides the yew trees, areas of dense forest.
The yews on Yttre Stekön were declared a protected natural monument back in 1915. This is the oldest protection order in Blekinge. The order initially applied to a small area of the island that had been severely exploited, with about 40 summer cottages. In 1964 a new decision was passed covering everything apart from property plots.
The rules for the nature reserve are shown in the link below, but, for example, you are not allowed to fell trees or damage anything that might jeopardise the protection of the yew trees.
