Viredabanan

Viredabanan is a pleasant round loop that partly follows an old bang and partly goes through the Wiredaholm golf course. The loop is ideal for a short walk, but also has a connection to Stage A1 and A2 on Anebyleden. The trail is easily wandered, follows gravel roads and is marked with orange color.

History
The western part of the round loop follows an ex-d banvall from Jönköping. Gripenberg's Railway (JGJ).

Jönköping- Gripenbergs Järnväg (JGJ), also called Gripenbergsbanan and in the public mouth "Tread Road", began to be built in 1893. In 1900, you could go from Jönköping to Vireda. The local name Viredabanan. The idea was that the railroad would then continue to Gripenberg, but there were no funds to fund the latter route. Other factors also contributed negatively. The track was narrow track (600 mm track width) It was not possible to link the Gripen Railway with SJ’s normal-track railway. Cars and trucks took over much of the transportation of people and goods in the early 20th century. Smaller railroads were unprofitable. The last train rolled from Vireda on August 31, 1935. However, the railway contributed to the development of communities like Vireda and others around the turn of the century in 1900.
