Luonnonsuojelualue
The old medieval road “Kongslijden” runs through the south of the nature reserve and the heart of the reserve is forested, with beech the dominant species. Areas in which spruce was more prominent were severely hit by Cyclone Gudrun in 2005.
The nature reserve contains several species on Sweden’s endangered Red List. Birds such as black woodpecker, lesser spotted woodpecker, the European green woodpecker and hawfinches nest here more or less every year, and kingfishers, white-throated dippers and otters can be seen on the river.
The rules for the nature reserve are shown in the link below, but, for example, dogs must be kept on a lead other than when hunting, and you may not pitch a tent or park a caravan or camper van, light a fire, or ride a horse or cycle other than on the road.

There is no public road to the nature reserve. It is most easily reached from Bergamåla, from the south. You will need to walk 1.5 km on the Blekingeleden Trail which here also follows the same route as “Kongslijden”. Take the road to Saxemara from Ronneby. Take the road to Bergamåla just after Härstorpssjön lake outside Ronneby. After about 3 km you reach Bergamåla hallar where the Blekingeleden trail joins the road. Park and start walking the trail northwards. After 1.5 km the trail follows the southern edge of the nature reserve to the bridge over the Vierydsån river. There is a picnic spot next to Blekingeleden.
