Bus, boat or train - travel to the Blekinge Archipelago and around the area with public transport and protect the environment
Images
Our vision is that the Blekinge Archipelago Biosphere Reserve becomes a sustainable destination for nature and cultural tourism. In every activitity we do with regards to ARK56, we do it with the least possible impact on nature and the environment, both for the Blekinge Archipelago and for the entire planet.
Are you curious to know how you can support us to reduce climate impact?
We want to help you make it as easy as possible to make climate-smart choices. Here we have compiled some possibilities.
Arriving in Blekinge
"Tourism accounts for 5% of the world's climate emissions. The biggest impact is the journey to the tourist destination, and then of course it depends on which means of transport we choose", says Erik Lundberg, researcher from the University of Gothenburg.
The distances on the journey are also of great importance. Make it more climate-clever by changing means of transport and/or switching to a closer destination, for example holidays in Sweden. With the train you can easily reach our biggest hubs in Sölvesborg, Karlshamn, Ronneby and Karlskrona. There is also a night train from Hamburg to Malmö - from there you travel within 1.5 hours to our westernmost hub in Sölvesborg.
Calculate the climate emissions of your trip easily at travelandclimate.org
Getting around with public transport
Once you've arrived in Blekinge, it's relatively easy to reach most of our experiences using public transport. All hubs can be reached by bus or boat and from there you can get further by boat, foot, bicycle or kayak. When you click on the various hubs in the map next to this article and then on "more information", you will see directly where the stops are.
In the mobile application, when you select the filter "public transport", or "ferry route" you will find all the stops that are close to the pathes and hubs.
On most boats and on the train, you can take your bike with you.
How to get to places that you usually can´t reach
If there are no bus connections to the place you want to go or at the time you need, there is another option where you just pay the same price as for the bus. "Open local traffic" can be used every day between 8am and 6pm by those who meet one of the following requirements:
- The address you are traveling to or from is more than one kilometer (nearest footpath) from a bus stop. (Important: you need an address, take the nearest business/house on the map)
-
The bus stop is closer than a kilometer, but is only served by a maximum of two double trips between 9am and 5pm.
More information and booking on Blekingetrafiken's website under open local traffic. (choose in the translation menu "engelska")
You are here now and YOU are important to us - together we make the transition to a regenerative generation!
