Day trip | Karlskrona – Stenshamn & Utlängan
A short route that takes you far out into the archipelago. Almost as far out as you can get in the eastern part of the Blekinge Archipelago, lie the truly untouched islands of Stensham and Utlängan.
When you get off the ferry, you’ll be on the little island of Stenshamn that only sticks up 2 metres above the sea. Half the island disappears below the surface at high water. Stenshamn and Utlängan are joined by a causeway built by the defence forces. Today it means you can easily explore both islands. Utlängan is the “farming island” in this part of the archipelago. On the other islands the population made a living from fishing but the inhabitants of Utlängan were farmers. Stop off for a spot of birdwatching or seal watching or go for a swim. You’ll have time to explore both islands on foot but you can also hire a bike at Pelles Sjöbod in the guest harbour (in high season it’s worth booking in advance). Here you even can enjoy good food and a swedish "Fika" during summer.
On a clear day, the lighthouse point offers views to Utklippan, the southernmost point of Sweden. You could even extend your stay with a night in a tent.
Stenshamn is reached on the archipelago ferries from Fisktorget (only in the summer) or Yttre Park (all year). You can even take the boat all year round from Torhamn which you reach by bus from Karlskrona.
If you want to take your own bike you have to take the boat "Ungskär" from Yttre Park.
The timetable is available at Skärgårdstrafik - Blekingetrafiken
