Originating from the 18th century, Ronneby Brunnspark is one of Ronneby’s most visited tourist attractions, with e.g. an impressive rhododendron plantation started in 1910. Today Ronneby Brunnspark is an idyllic oasis enjoyed by all for entertainment, outings, walks, exercise and recreation.

JAPANESE GARDEN

The Japanese garden has an exotic, tranquil atmosphere created by stones symbolizing entire mountain ranges and by wooden bridges over gravel that has been raked into patterns symbolising water. The open pavilion invites you to a moment’s rest and meditation.

GARDEN OF SCENTS

In a glade in the Brunnsskogen woods the Garden of Scents appears with a sight and fragrance that leaves no one untouched. The garden has exquisitely fragrant flowers chosen to blossom at different times throughout the growing season.

BRUNNSHALLARNA (THE SPA HALLS)

The Spa Halls offer music and entertainment for old and young alike. During the summer months, the famous flea market attracts many visitors from far and near. THE BRUNNSPARKEN VILLAS The villas in Brunnsparken are registered as cultural memorials and have been painstakingly renovated. Today, they house a variety of businesses including a youth & family hostel, cafés, restaurants and offices.

THE HISTORY OF RONNEBY BRUNNSPARK

In 1705, the first spring well was opened on the banks of the Ronneby River.

In 1727, the present Old Spring (Gamla Källan) was discovered. The spring well that exists today was built

in 1846, making it the park’s oldest building. Spa visitors stayed in Ronneby and were taken out to the spring well to bathe in and drink the iron-rich and salubrious water. By 1859, the number of spa guests had grown to 1 400.

In 1873, the Brunnspark and Brunnsskogen woods were established and included in the spa area. Many buildings were erected: beautiful wooden villas, restaurants, public baths and the district Brunnsblekan offering spa guests accommodation. The number of visitors rose rapidly and Ronneby Brunn became Sweden’s leading spa resort.

In 1897, the large, impressive spa hotel was completed. At the same time, the present spa hall was built, unique in its kind. Life at the spa resort was lively and the town of Ronneby became very famous for its salubrious water and beautiful surroundings.

In 1907 the social life flourished and there were 2 774 visitors at the spa.

In 1939 was the last spa season. Ronneby Brunn then ecame a place for tourists and vacation. IN 1959, the large spa hotel burnt down. A new modern one was built, completed in 1961.

In 1985–87, the park was restored. The park and the different gardens were shaped by Sven-Ingvar Andersson, professor and landscape architect.

In 2003, the Brunnspark and the Brunnsskogen woods became a cultural reserve. IN 2005, the Ronneby Brunnspark celebrated its 300th anniversary and won the honour of being named Sweden’s most beautiful park. IN 2010, a new aqua park, Ronneby Brunnsbad, opened.

In 2013, the Brunnspark was appointed ”Sweden’s most inspiring park”. IN 2019, Opening of the Kalvattenkuren building. It is now the venue for exhibitions and museum displays about the Gribshunden ship, Gold Figurines and the history of Ronneby.

In 2021, The Japanese Garden was nominated for a design and architecture award – Swedish Design Awards by Rum – in the category “Outdoor area of the year, 2021”.
