Description

Gö fishing village was built in 1946-49 and a harbour for small boats was added ten years later. At that time, there were around 18 cod fishermen active in Gö. They baited 360 hooks on a fishing line with sand lance or herring. The catch was cleaned on the way back to land and then sent by truck to Karlskrona for filleting. At that time, a kilo of filleted cod cost 56 öre. Today Gö is mainly a beautiful and picturesque reminder of the formerly important fishing industry in Blekinge. Source: Blekinge Museum
