Description
Step back in time to the cries of the seagulls Kristianopel Resort is a place with a difference where the past blends with the sound of the seagulls, the smoke of the evening barbecue, children’s shouts from the playground and music from the evening’s band. The resort sits on a headland in the south of Kalmarsund.
The campsite nestles in a historic setting surrounded by the ring wall, several metres high, first built in the early seventeenth century. Just the other side of the wall there are places to swim on the western and eastern sides of the headland, with the island of Öland just across the water. Whichever pitch you choose, it’s never more than 200 metres to the newly renovated service building. There are also cabins and a youth hostel.
The area is packed with monuments from the period when this part of Sweden was Danish. There are fortifications from the sixteenth century and a church dating from 1624. History is ever present in the natural surroundings and the architecture. Restaurant, café, pub, entertainment, boat hire, mini golf, leisure fishing available.
Marina, restaurant, camping, events, beach – 25 cabins, 120 beds in total and 100 camping pitches – Swedish and English – Open for summer season April to September, see website for current opening times
