This route passing through several areas of mire with swampy ground that are heavy to hike and also requires hiking along a busy car road.
It is recommended to choose the route via Ljusnedal and Funäsdalen and further to Bruksvallarna instead.
Description
You can follow the old medevial route of St Olav Rombo Way from Ol-Jonsvallen directly to the chapel of Bruksvallarna.
South of Vedboåsen there is a small cabin you can use for free overnight stay. This alterntive route is long and tent is recommended to carry along with you.
From Vedboåsen the stag passes through Hedningsgärdet, an old historic place with remnants from the 18th century.
The stage continues from Hedningsgärdet to Bruksvallarna at the car road, be careful of traffic along the way.
Walk in the footsteps of the pilgrims
Romboleden (Rombo Way) is a pilgrimage route that people began using in the 11th century. The Romboleden is Sweden’s longest pilgrimage route at 900 kilometres long. It starts in Köping in Västmanland and finishes in Trondheim on the Norwegian Atlantic coast. If you walk the entire trail, you will experience a beautiful and varied landscape. You will walk on old chalet paths, over mountains with magnificent vistas and along narrow country gravel roads. You will find easy one-day walks with cafés along the way, and long treks that take several days. The route often passes through small villages.

Surface
Den historiskt korrekta dragningen av Romboleden är på Ljusnans högra sida efter Funäsdalen. Det finns lämningar på stigstenar i en hage utmed landsvägen. Tyvärr vill inte bonden ha besökare i hagen. Byn Funäsdalen är ganska ny från 1750-talet.
Communications
Till Funäsdalen tar du dig med bil, buss, flyg, eller tåg med transfer. De flesta kör bil för att komma hit men det går också utmärkt att åka buss. Närmaste flygplats finns i Röros i Norge, samt flygplatser i Sveg och Östersund, med transfermöjligheter till Funäsdalen.
Härjedalingen är en direktbuss som går från Stockholm via Uppsala och Gävle till Funäsdalen.
Länstrafiken Jämtland Härjedalen, busslinje 622, trafikerar sträckan Funäsdalen-Bruksvallarna.
Tåg från Stockholm till Östersund eller Ljusdal samt buss med Länstrafiken Jämtland till Funäsdalen.
Observera att förbokning av buss/taxi kan behövas om du vill åka till eller från Bruksvallarna.
