Kuvaus

Here you will find a well-preserved, small-scale historic landscape of wooded meadows, hayfields, natural grazing land, small arable fields and a small section of oak woodland. The fields are managed by haymaking, grazing and pollarding.

Much of the area is covered by wooded meadows with more than 350 pollarded linden, ash and elm trees and some lone oaks standing in pastureland. Hazel trees are common. Some smaller areas are mown for hay. Ancient fields surrounded by stone walls are dotted through the area.

Winter feed for animals used to be cut from the wooded meadows. Grass and plants were cut for hay and the leaves of the trees were harvested by cutting (pollarding) the branches. Wooded meadows produce a mix of sun and shade. This means that many plant species with different needs are able to thrive within a small area.

Leave the E22 at Jämjö and follow signs towards Torhamn. Follow the road for 7.5 kilometres. The nature reserve is on the right-hand side with parking further down the side track. The nearest bus stop is Möcklerydsvägen Torhamn just next to the nature reserve.

You are welcome to visit Steneryd’s leaves, but keep in mind that it is not allowed to:

relaying or removing stone or earth, drilling, hacking, blasting, carving, digging, painting or otherwise damaging mountains, earth or stone, damage stone walls, cultivation thresholds or other cultural historical remains; consciously harm or disturb the wildlife, capture or collect invertebrates in such a way that their biotopes or reproductive environments are damaged or destroyed;
picking mosses, lichens or venerating fungi, other than what is reasonably needed for art determination,
damage living or dead, standing or lying trees and shrubs, or vegetation otherwise, abduct or destroy dead wood; dig up or pull up plants, plant, so or spread plants, animals, fungi or other organisms;
carrying unconnected dogs other than puppy of livestock and hunting and in search of injured animals. In both herding and hunting, dogs suitable for each purpose and species shall be used;
perform motor vehicles other than in the parking lot and ground road leading to extended parking;
tent or otherwise camp for more than two days,
set up caravan/car or similar for overnight stay;
make fire or use grills, spirit kitchens or the like.

Without permission from the county administrative board, you will also not:

conduct scientific research involving sampling, marking, trap catch, installation of equipment or any kind of impact on plant or animal life. When it comes to collecting destructive methods, such as destroying substrates, permits cannot be left. use the area of competition, camp operations or exercise that may seem disturbing to nature or public outdoor life;
set up paintings, placards, posters, signs, carvings, lead marking, inscription or comparable device, other than temporary (maximum one week) in connection with hunting or in connection with organised outdoor activities.
